Job Purpose

The successful candidate will assist customers, maintain product displays, stock shelves, and ensure the Fruit & Veg department remains clean, organized, and fully stocked. You will help create a positive shopping experience while ensuring fresh produce is displayed attractively.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist customers with product information and purchasing decisions
• Provide excellent customer service
• Guide customers to the correct aisles and shelves
• Keep shelves stocked with fresh produce
• Replace damaged products when necessary
• Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the department
• Prepare promotional and sales displays
• Ensure products are correctly labelled
• Order products when stock runs low
• Remove expired products from shelves
• Promote products that are nearing expiry dates

Minimum Requirements

• Matric certificate
• Exprience will be added as advantage y
• Retail or customer service experience will be an advantage
• Previous customer service experience in a retail setting.
• Good knowledge of fresh fruit and vegetable handling, storage, and stock rotation practices.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends, public holidays, and overtime when required.
• Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods and lift stock when necessary.
• Strong verbal communication skills in English; additional South African languages will be advantageous.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
• Clear criminal record.
• Reliable transport to and from the workplace will be advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

• Experience operating retail point-of-sale systems.
• Experience in merchandising and product display management.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and health regulations.
• Experience with stock control, inventory management, and stock receiving procedures.
• Previous experience working for a supermarket, grocery store, or fresh produce retailer.
